Dry Needling Now Offered at Priority Rehab in Carmel

Priority Rehab and Wellness is proud to announce Dry Needling. This technique is proven to reduce pain and increase performance in runners, cyclists, cross fitters, and all athletes.  The owner of Priority Rehab, located in Carmel, IN, is Dr. Blake Wiseman. Dr. Wiseman believes in incorporating many components of wellness and health into his Physical Therapy practice. “I believe no one person heals exactly the same, and that’s why we offer a variety of pain relieving techniques for our patients. Would a runner heal similar to a retired grandmother if they had the same injury? No, first of all the runner is probably insane and beating herself up with 7 mile runs everyday when already in pain. We know runners won’t “rest” or “take time off” to heal, so we have to be creative in how to heal them while they continue to further damage their injury. The grandmother on the other hand probably needs a completely different approach, just getting her up and moving a little more may be all it takes. ” The point is alternative medicine is here; if you no longer want to be on pain meds or just hanging on until that 3rd month when you are eligible for another injection, then Dry Needling, massage, laser therapy, and other techniques offered at Priority Rehab may be a solution for you.

How is Dry Needling Performed?

Dry needling involves the insertion of a thin filament needle to stimulate the healing process of soft tissues (muscle “trigger points”, fascia, tendons and ligaments) resulting in pain relief and restoration of healthy physiology. A myofascial “trigger point” is a hyperirritable point in skeletal muscle that is associated with a hypersensitive palpable “knot”. This area becomes painful at the site and can also “radiate” in predictable patterns.

Who Can Benefit from Dry Needling?

A variety of musculoskeletal problems including, but not limited to: Acute/Chronic injuries, Headaches, Neck/Back pain, Tendinitis, Muscle Spasms, “Sciatica”, Hip/Knee pain, Muscle strains, “Tennis/Golfer’s Elbow”,  Overuse injuries, etc.
